A petition for maintaining AccèsLogis
February 15, 2015
Faced with the growing concern about the Quebec government’s trend to cut financial assistance, a petition calling for the continued funding of the AccèsLogis program in the next provincial budget was presented to the National Assembly. In light of the volume of needs, the petition also asked Quebec to commit for the next five years.
The petition points out for instance that AccèsLogis is the only social and community housing program in Québec and it allows thousands of households to find appropriate housing at a decent cost. It also mentions that more than one third of the provincial tenant households pay more than 30% of their income on housing.
FECHIMM strongly encourages you to sign this petition launched at the initiative of the Federation of housing co-operatives in the Eastern Townships and sponsored by the MNA Bernard Drainville, before the March 4 deadline.
Restrictions to the AccèsLogis program announced by the Société d'habitation du Québec (SHQ) last January 16, of which the decision not to renew the temporary financial assistance to increase the already inadequate maximum allowable production costs, are some of the reasons that raise concerns in several regions.
