NEW SHQ PROGRAM TO PRESERVE COMMUNITY HOUSING STOCK

Large img nouvelle pppic

Société d'habitation du Québec is launching a new financial assistance program to support renovation work in housing cooperatives and NPOs created with the help of Quebec programs and providing a contribution to a community housing fund. These programs include AccèsLogis, Logement abordable Québec (LAQ) and PARCO.

The Programme d'aide financière visant la préservation du parc immobilier communautaire (PPPIC) provides financial assistance to renovate existing housing stock. It also provides a tool for co-ops and NPOs to refinance certain debts.

This program could allow your cooperative to obtain an additional loan guaranteed by the SHQ to carry out work contributing to the sustainability of the units or when the amortization period of your initial loan must be extended.

To be eligible, your cooperative must have paid its maximum contribution to the Fonds québécois d'habitation communautaire (FQHC) or to another fund (depending on the agreement) for the building or buildings covered by the application before the subsidy is paid.

ELIGIBLE INTERVENTIONS

The additional financial assistance may be used to finance work identified in the building health check (BSI), the integration of innovative products into the buildings and the addition of a new facility or equipment. It may also be used to refinance debts and expenses related to the organization's recovery. Projects that add new housing units are not eligible.

TO BENEFIT FROM THE PROGRAM

Eligible cooperatives must submit their application by filling out the financial assistance application form and sending it to the SHQ along with financial statements for the last two years, budget forecasts for the next three years and a building health report (BSI) dating back less than three years.

For more information on the program, consult the information page on the SHQ website and the terms and conditions of the program.
