35 years ago, FECHIMM came into being. On February 19, 1983, la Fédération des coopératives d’habitation de l’île de Montréal (the Federation of Housing Co-operatives of the Island of Montreal - FECHIM), now called la Fédération des coopératives d’habitation intermunicipale du Montréal métropolitain (the Federation of Inter-municipal Housing Co-operatives of Metropolitan Montreal) (FECHIMM), was formally constituted.

To mark this anniversary that will be celebrated in various ways in 2018, the Federation unveils its new logo and its official signature of the 35th.

The new logo

In continuity with the graphic symbol identifying the housing co-operative movement since 1999, the new visual identity of the Federation is more representative of the urban reality of housing co-operatives in the metropolitan area, the diverse nature of its population and the desire to continue developing a democratic model that puts the right to housing at the heart of all its actions.

The emergence of a form resembling a building at the base of the logo, the accentuation of the converging movement, the widening of the colour scheme and the addition of the door symbol are put to contribution to carry the message FECHIMM wishes to convey.

In the interest of sustainable development, the introduction of the new visual identity will be done gradually through the Federation's printed material. The change is effective now in electronic material.

A short version of the logo with the FECHIMM acronym will also be used, mainly in social media.

Captivated by an ideal for 35 years

In addition to the new logo, FECHIMM also introduces the signature of the 35th anniversary.

The theme " Habitée par un idéal" (Captivated by an Ideal) is a reflection of the Federation's commitment to build a better world for all by contributing to the advancement of the right to housing and a better distribution of wealth.

The expression also reflects its constantly renewed wish to empower housing co-operatives in order to help them meet the challenges that confront them at each stage of their journey.

The festivities surrounding FECHIMM’s 35th anniversary will be officially launched at the 2018 AGM. Events that will appear in different parts of the territory during the summer and an open house in the fall are under way.

The 35th anniversary will also be mentioned in FECHIMM's communication material, including the CITÉCOOP magazine and the fechimm.coop website.
