CAMPAIGNING FOR HOUSING

How to participate in the campaign

On November 5, elections will be held in all Quebec municipalities. This is a great opportunity to make the co-operative housing movement heard and to get concrete commitments from the candidates.

You, as co-op members, are in the best position to put forward your expectations.

HOW?

  • Have a discussion with the candidates who come knocking at your door
  • Get in touch with them by email or through social media
  • Take part in the electoral debates organized in your neighbourhood and ask questions (see our suggestions)

If you are a member of a large co-operative…

Organize an event (corn roast, garage sale, etc.) and invite the candidates from your neighbourhood or borough to attend it.

Numerous issues for housing co-operatives

THREE PRIORITIES

  2. A land and buildings bank in order to promote the development of housing co-operatives

  3. Participatory and democratic governance maintaining citizens’ right of approval by way of referendum and establishing a meaningful upstream consultation process
